As part of the “correction of the functioning of the communication system in the area of the Rataje roundabout”, the track and network infrastructure was reconstructed and built, adapting it for bus traffic on tracks, and the related correction of the road system.
The modernization of the busy roundabout included widening roads - there are four lanes from three directions, and five lanes from the John Paul II direction. In total, the renovation covered more than 3 km of roads. The roundabout has new vertical markings as well as thick-layer horizontal markings. A completely separated track made using ballastless technology on concrete slabs also allows buses to go. Bus and tram stops have been extended so that trams and buses can stop on the same platforms, and city buses can run on the tracks. This has made it easier to use public transport, transfers are more convenient and the travel time has shortened. The total length of the tracks is more than 3 km. 83 new traction poles were placed along.
132 new lighting poles were also installed. As part of the renovation of the telecommunications sewage system, 30 km of optical fibers were provided. The safety of vehicle and pedestrian traffic was ensured by installing 30 video monitoring cameras.
New bicycle paths with a total length of almost 3 km were created on both sides of the rebuilt streets. New sidewalks with a surface adapted for use by blind people were also built. New plantings were made on the roundabout, including trees, shrubs, flowers, grasses and seasonal plants.
We also purchased 15 electric buses, they joined the MPK fleet in Poznan.
