The investment involved the reconstruction and renovation of a historical farm complex located in the vicinity of the Ostrów Lednicki Island, for the needs of the Museum of the First Piasts. The design documentation was prepared for the area of 20,815.76 m2, including the buildings of the former farm, including land development, greenery, roads and parking lots, and the necessary technical infrastructure.
As a result of the project, a facility was created with modern archaeological, conservation and scientific workshops, an educational room, two cinema halls for the presentation of films about Ostrów Lednicki and the beginnings of the Polish state, storage rooms, exhibition rooms (a hall for permanent and temporary exhibitions) and conference rooms, as well as social, technical, sanitary and ticket offices necessary for the operation of the facility.
Modern exhibition halls provide ideal conditions for presenting valuable archaeological finds, they constitute the collections of the Museum of the First Piasts at Lednica. The presented artefacts come from archaeological excavations conducted in cemeteries, settlements, the stronghold and in the lake buffer zone. The exhibition is equipped with multimedia equipment and exhibition elements allowing visitors to delve deeper into the knowledge of a given issue. Important elements of the exhibition include dioramas and reconstructions presenting the environmental and living conditions, as well as the appearance and everyday life of the inhabitants of Ostrów Lednicki.
The facility has been adapted to the needs of people with disabilities and the blind. Two passenger and freight elevators have been installed, tactile paths have been made, along with Braille markings, toilets have been adapted for people with disabilities, there are no thresholds in the building, the minimum width of door openings is 90 cm, external ramps have been made. Technical infrastructure has also been prepared, including networks, connections, internal installations for the sanitary industry and high and low electrical current. What is more, fire roads with external lighting have been made.
The new building has been integrated into the historical surroundings of the Lednica Landscape Park. The facility has a spacious terrace overlooking the Lednica Lake and what is most precious to us, the historical space of the Ostrów Lednicki Island, a Monument of History, showing the identity and cultural heritage of our society.
